Aerial Drops Workshop!

Take your aerial practice to a whole new level in this drops workshop!
What is a drop?
In a drop, a student will wrap themselves in the aerial hammock so they can let go of the swing and 'drop' down into a new position. Drops can be big and dramatic or very small.
Are drops safe?
Drops can be very dangerous when not practiced correctly. Desert Sun Yoga will provide students with 6 foot by 6 foot square crash mats that are 8 inches thick to ensure safety. Wraps are specifically designed so that students will safely land in a new position in the swing, crash mats are just precautionary. Students will build muscle memory for the drop before ever performing it. Under the guidance of an experienced aerialist drops are not only safe, but also EXHILARATING.
Each drops workshop will focus on a different 'style' of drop. As students become more familiar with drops they can build up to more complex drops. On September 14th we will focus on knee catching drops.
Who Can Attend a Drops Workshop?
Drops are a designated as level 3 at aerial yoga. Students must have a minimum of 20 classes under their belt and 3 months of consistent practice.

What to Expect:
This workshop will focus on building strength and flexibility, all while opening up the more sensual side of yourself! You will learn smooth transitions from one pose to the next and give yourself the freedom to move naturally. In the end you will put it all together for a 2-5 minute long aerial dance routine.
Who Can Come?
Students are expected to have taken at least 10-20 aerial classes before attending this workshop. While you do not need to be (or feel) advanced, students should be able to come in and out of basic inversions with only verbal cues. Students will learn and incorporate level 1 and 2 tricks and transitions throughout this workshop, so you should be prepared to use some upper body strength and endurance.
Can I Use My Class Passes For This?

Introduction to Aerial Yoga

Have you been interested in aerial yoga, but also been a little too intimidated to try?
This workshop is for you!
In this 90 minute workshop we are going to break down ALL of the basics of a general aerial yoga class. We will talk about the do's and the don'ts. You will learn all of the basic movements and we will discuss how to adjust the fabric to make sure that you are always comfortable, in control, and aware of what you are doing and WHY you are doing it! Students will learn how to do basic aerial yoga inversions in a safe manner that will also feel YUMMY on your body.
NO prerequisites at all! You don't need to know a thing about yoga, about meditation, or about aerial. After taking this workshop you will feel prepared to take any one of our aerial yoga classes and start to work on getting strong, flexible, and most importantly, RELAXING your mind and body!
